Sociologa, cooperante internazionale e professional life coach. Nel luglio 2016, mentre si trovava nel Sud-Sudan sconvolto dalla guerra civile, alla distanza di un solo miglio dalla missione di peacekeeping delle Nazioni Unite, è stata attaccata e ripetutamente violentata – e con lei altre colleghe inermi – da uomini in divisa, soldati delle truppe del presidente del Sud Sudan, Salva Kiir. Il 22 agosto 2017, da sola, ha avuto il coraggio di testimoniare davanti alla corte marziale della capitale Juba e ha ottenuto la condanna dei suoi aguzzini. La stampa internazionale si è occupata a lungo del caso, quella italiana ben poco. Per raccontare la sua storia, ha scritto un libro: Il viaggio della fenice (2020), auto-prodotto.
